Samsung claims 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy foldable phones are currently sold

Netease Technology News on January 9, according to the technology website The Verge reported that one month ago, Samsung Electronics President Young Sohn mistakenly claimed that the company had sold 1 million Galaxy Fold folding screen phones. Now, at CES 2020, the company has released a new sales forecast. “I think we have sold 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy Fold smartphones,” Samsung Electronics Co-CEO DJ Koh told Yonhap.

Given that Gao Dongzhen is in charge of Samsung Electronics’ entire mobile phone department, his data may be closer to the actual sales of the Galaxy Fold. But Gao Dongzhen’s data is still vague and frustrating. As the co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, he must have more accurate data on the specific sales volume of the company’s most cutting-edge and experimental mobile phone than “between 400,000 and 500,000”.

Samsung Electronics has previously stated that it aims to sell 500,000 Galaxy Fold smartphones in 2019. Selling 400,000 Galaxy Folds did not meet its target.

Although far from Samsung ’s other smartphones, sales of 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy Fold phones are still impressive. Samsung Electronics recently announced that it will sell 6.7 million 5G smartphones in 2019, far exceeding the sales of the Galaxy Fold.

The Galaxy Fold debut is just the beginning of a series of Samsung foldable phones. According to reports, the company is also developing several other foldable phones and launched a vertically foldable flip-type smartphone on February 11.
