The Insurance Regulator and Development Authority of India (IRDA) has asked insurance companies to design policies that cover the cost of treatment of corona virus. This is possibly the world’s first proposal to include Corona in insurance cover.
Significantly, there have been more than 3000 deaths worldwide due to corona infection and it has made more than 90 thousand people sick.
What did IRDA say
According to the news agency PTI, Irda issued a statement on Wednesday saying, “To meet the need of health insurance, insurance companies are suggested to design products that cover the cost of treatment of corona virus. ‘
IRDA has asked insurance companies to speedily settle claims related to the treatment of corona virus. Irda said that in cases where the cost of hospitalization is covered, insurance companies should ensure that cases related to Kovid-19 are disposed of rapidly.
Government became active
Significantly, the government has also shown considerable proactivity to deal with Corona. About 6 lakh people have been screened at 21 airports in the country. Apart from this, about 10 lakh people coming from the border of Nepal, Bhutan, and Myanmar have also been screened.
Outbreak in the world
So far coronavirus cases have been reported in 70 countries of the world and now it has started showing its effect in India too. So far 29 cases have been reported in the country, out of which three have been treated. There are still 26 cases positive, in which the vigilance has increased in India. On Friday, suspects of Corona have been found in Gaya in Bihar and Bidar in Karnataka.
