At the press conference, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei said that in the Internet era, no technology can be independently developed by a country behind closed doors, and no application can be used within a country.
China has always upheld the concepts of openness, cooperation and sharing, and we are willing to continue to promote the development of 5G industry with the global industry. In the previous 5G standard formulation process, we built a test platform, including companies such as Qualcomm, Intel, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, etc. and cooperated with China’s Huawei, ZTE and Xinke on one platform, and achieved good results effect.
In the next step we will, as always, welcome foreign companies to actively participate in China’s 5G development, follow relevant laws and regulations, and treat domestic and foreign companies and operators fairly.
We also hope that we can work with overseas government departments, research institutions, and enterprises to establish cooperation mechanisms and study how to prevent 5G security issues. This is our common responsibility to ensure security and promote development. Of course, on the issue of security, we are opposed to politicizing technical issues.
As for the promotion of the use of Chinese products, it may affect national security. This is an exaggeration, and it is actually impossible. We also hope to return to the technical level and study with more countries on how to benefit and avoid harm, and how to make 5G better serve all humankind.
