Longest night and shortest day of the year

Karachi: For this year, the night between December 21 and 22 was the longest night of the whole year, while December 22 was the shortest day of the entire year.

According to astronomical entities, Saturday and Sunday were the longest nights of the year in the northern hemisphere of the earth between midnight and Sunday, and Sunday was the shortest day of the year.

The occasion falls in the month of December each year and can be any day from December 20 to 23. This year spent this past night.

It should be noted that when the northern half of the year is the longest night of the year, it is also called “winter solstice” or “northern solstice” in the language of astronomy. However, a common misconception in this regard is that on the eve of the Revolution, the distance from the sun to the earth is the highest; this is not the case.

On the contrary, the fact is that the earth is tilted 23.4 degrees on its axis while its axis rotates during the axial rotation like a rotating latch.

There is an occasion in the year when the sun is rotating in the opposite direction from the sun, but since the axial rotation of the earth is a continuous process, it is immediately after the coming of the sun. The tilt of the ground axis begins to reverse.

That is, the tilt of the earth’s northern half curves once again toward the sun. As a result, immediately after the winter, the nights become shorter and the days longer.
