Huawei P40 will use Android 10 but will be pre-installed with “Huawei Mobile Services”

Huawei confirmed that the P40 and P40 Pro smartphones scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year will be pre-installed with Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google Mobile Services (GMS).

Huawei Consumer Business CEO Yu Chengdong said that the P40 and P40 Pro will run Android 10, use Huawei’s EMUI interface layer, and replace Huawei with GMS pre-installed. This means that the phone will not be pre-installed with Google Play Store, Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps.

Because of US export restrictions, Google cannot authorize Huawei to use its GMS mobile service.
