Affected by the epidemic, GSMA officially announced the cancellation of MWC 2020

In February of each year, the industry event MWC Global Communications Conference will not be held as scheduled this year. Due to the impact of the epidemic, the organizer GSMA has just announced the cancellation of this year’s MWC. In the past week, a number of mobile phone brands, telecommunications companies, and exhibitors have withdrawn. Although the exhibition continued yesterday, it was announced less than a day later that they would cancel.

“With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event. The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision. The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions. Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.”

GSMA CEO John Hoffman said that the epidemic made it impossible for the event to continue. After all, the safety and health environment of Barcelona, Spain, and the outbreak of the epidemic need to be considered. Exhibitors and staff need to cross-border business, so GMSA is not possible activity. The decision was respected and understood by Barcelona, and the two parties will collaborate again at the MWC exhibition in the coming year.
